Ephesians 2:4-6 (NIV)

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

The Big Idea:

The resurrection of Jesus Christ changed everything! This passage is all about our new life in Christ, a long run on sentence of good news describing God’s great love for us and His rich mercy and grace, which compelled Him to give His Son to willingly die on a cross in our place. He overcame death to give us life and a new identity in Christ. This is the message of Easter! Our new identity means we are no longer spiritually dead and separated from God. Instead, believers are alive, raised up with Christ and seated with Him in the heavenly realms.

Personal Take Away:

This is the glorious transformation that takes place when we believe in Christ~ we are raised from the pit of sin and death to the position of being alive with Christ, seated with Him in the heavenly realms. Do you live like you are a citizen of heaven?
