30 Day Easter Devotional – Day 15

March 28, 2015 | Posted by : Jacob Hart

Acts 1:8 (NIV)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

The Big Idea:

In His final words to His disciples before He ascends into heaven to be seated at the right hand of God, Christ equips His disciples, as an example to all believers, with the reassurance of power from above to help them be His witnesses.

Personal Take Away

The application of this passage is for us as followers of Christ to know that God never intended for us to go it alone when we share the good news. Knowing the courage it takes to spread the gospel of Christ among the persecution and opposition of this world, God gives us His power through the Holy Spirit. This means that we can ask God to fill us with knowledge, zeal, strength, courage and all the gifts necessary to share the truth about Jesus with anyone!

“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father – the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father – He will testify about Me.” John 15:26

Are we remembering to pray and ask God for power from the Holy Spirit before we get into conversations about who Jesus is? Take time today to thank God for the power and guidance He gives us through His Holy Spirit, and ask God to give you opportunities to share the truth about the death and resurrection of Jesus!
