God’s Gifts to You: Six Gifts You Need Today

December 25, 2019 | Posted by : Donna Jones

“Mom, why do we give gifts at Christmas?”

I was driving down the highway when Ashton asked this question from the backseat of our black SUV. She must have been six or seven, tops, and every Christmas, from that one to this, I replay our conversation in my mind.

Because while we’ve been planning, shopping, wrapping, sending and giving gifts, God has, too.

Did you know the Bible tells us about six gifts God gives to every one of His children?

So no matter what is–or is not–under your Christmas tree this year, God offers you and me gifts more lasting, more sustaining, more fulfilling than any gift we could purchase ourselves. Every one of God’s gifts to us-for you— is wrapped in love.

Let’s not overlook any of God’s gifts!

Here are Six Gifts God Gives to His Children:

  1.  The Gift of Peace

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14:27)

2.  The Gift of Forgiveness & The Holy Spirit

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

3.  The Gift of a Spiritual Gift

There are different kinds of gifts. But they are all given to believers by the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve. But they all come from the same Lord. (1 Corinthians 12:4-5)

4.  The Gift of Salvation

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

5.  The Gift of Jesus

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

6.  The Gift of Eternal Life

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him might not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

The Holy Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And the person who hears should say, “Come!” Anyone who is thirsty should come. Anyone who wants to take the free gift of the water of life should do so. (Revelation 22:17)

Why do we give gifts at Christmas?

Because motivated by love, God gave us His best gift at Christmas: Jesus.

You are loved,

Donna
